Joel Sussman is professor of Department of Structural Biology of the Weizmann Institute of Science. He obtained his PhD from MIT in biophysics with Cyrus Levinthal. He did postdoctoral research in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and in the Duke University. He has been the director of the Protein Data Bank (PDB) at the Brookhaven National Laboratory between 1994 and 1999. He studies the 3D structure/function of nervous system proteins to find new leads for treating neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s Disease and autism.
