Martin Walsh is deputy to the director of life sciences at Diamond Light Source (DLS) where he coordinates life science research. He has accumulated 25 years experience in macromolecular X-ray crystallography (MX) and has extensive experience in the determination of macromolecular structures using Synchrotron Radiation. He has been at the forefront of automation method developments for MX (both hardware for automated sample mounting and associated software including a leading role in the development of ISPyB) which has facilitated the collection of the best data from the most challenging of samples.
